Chelsea, Manhattan Chelsea has been at the heart of New York’s gay men scene since the s, and it’s still one of the most iconic gay neighborhoods in New York. Signs include a batch of traditional Greenwich Village Historic District Gay Street signs, and a batch with a special Pride flag inspired trim along the bottom.
Although the street is part of the Stonewall National Monument (a U.S. national monument dedicated to the LGBT-rights movement), its name is likely derived from a family named Gay who owned land or lived there in. The monthly sign drops are the latest iteration of sales that have historically been available from the Sign Shop.
